Mother earth always seems to know just when to bring us back down to earth. It wasn’t that we were getting complacent but after a week of great sunshine and hot weather in general who’d have thought that our little costal town would see such a down pour with good ole thunder and lightning.
If anyone says ‘’well we need the rain’’ I swear I’ll drown them in it.
Well this is England I suppose. The sun did come back out after a couple of hours and summer continues.
A barbeque in pictures! Yep we had a BBQ!!
I just had to get away from the coast this weekend as they were hosting the annual air show, a local dog show and a bikers meet all over the weekend.
I made a phone call Friday night to a friend who ‘was told’ I would be staying with him and I’d be arriving first thing in the morning. Of course he was fine with it and when I arrived at about 10am he told me we were to be going to a barbeque that afternoon as he told a few of the guys I was coming down.
The impromptu get togethers are always the best. My friend who hosted this grub feast has about an acre of land and I love relaxing in his garden as his wife played the perfect hostess. In all there were only eight of us and he catered for our individual needs too. One of the crew is a big golf fan so a TV was set up just for him to watch the PGA final as the food was being prepared. The food ranged from prawns and steaks to chicken and a variety of salads and fresh rolls.
I must admit I have never seen this type of BBQ before, great for gnomes! Here you can see the coals being prepared as the flames take hold before the grill goes on. I failed to add a picture of the larger of the BBQ’s.
Now we’re on our way.
He set up a marquee that worked well beating back the insects
A lot of the grub like the chicken was pre-cooked in the oven and finished on the flames, and the skewered kebabs (home made) were a delight. That’s me posing!!
The walk around the garden was wonderful and meant I escaped with the clearing up … I wish.
The evening was still warm and we sat outside till it was late seeing the effects of his solar lights which were pretty amazing. I have my jacket on here as I didn’t want the night life to eat me(but they still did).
A great time was had if only I’d remembered my shorts!

I want that BBQ!
Funny how a run of the mill film could come up with such a great quote. I guess all credit to the writers or whoever it was that thought it up.
I just watched ‘Serenity’ (again) and never picked up on it before. I was intrigued and thought how amazing it was that one simple sentence had got me ‘thinking’. I had to Google it and do some research to see if it did come from a well known poet or author but it seems it didn’t.
…and the quote….
”I’M A LEAF ON THE WIND, WATCH HOW I SOAR’’ Serenity 2005
A friend of mine has taken early retirement (situations in his life have afforded him this) and he’s barely 50 but the problem is he’s into day time TV with the emphasis on ‘home shows’, theses are programs about doing up a house and selling it on, or going to auctions and buying and selling, all this type of stuff.
Boredom seems to make experts of us in the property market when it comes to ‘day time viewing’!!
As I do very little telly at the best of times I’m finding ‘the advise’ very irritating and annoying.
….and he will be told if he keeps it up.
Epic ending to The vampire Diaries. That’s all I’ve got. Can’t wait for the new season now.
So this is where I stayed in Spain. It’s an apartment/flat and I snapped the private grounds with the pools (of course) that I only used once from the patio area.
His neighbour Paul (great guy) invited us over to his patio area where he made us a paella.
…adding the garnish.
…and the finished product.
Of course I was smiling. I also took away his recipe and will be trying it back here in England.
Me with Alan (the big bearded beast) who owns the place and some other friends. The view was wonderful.
Well I like ice cream!
The full album is posted on Facebook so I’m only sharing a few here.
That was the Med behind me and I couldn’t go all that way without poking my toe in … and I did!
Even more ice cream…

Looks so fun!
Paella and icecream.. Wait a minute when does the Sangria come in to it? Great photos!
Spain was brilliant but like any holiday ‘it’s good to be back’. I’m tempted to post pictures here but I don’t want to make you all jealous.
So I’m back home, just not to the home I wanted to be in as that will be soon so I mustn’t worry too much about that. If I tell you I’m counting the days you will get the idea as to just what this move means to me.
On the home front my daughter is doing her ‘mocks’ this week, well some of them. I can’t believe where the years have gone.
On the Spanish front, the guys are planning a trip again but this time over the Xmas holiday, as for me going … we will see!

Have a wonderful trip!!! Be safe and tell us all about it when you get home.
Have fun and be safe. :)
I never stood a chance. I didn’t want to write about that in my journal, about how it was the slimmest chance ever.
….but, BUT, BUT ….. I got the apartment.
I am so happy, words really can’t describe it, I cried on the phone when she told me the news.
I have to remain composed as I still have tonight’s dinner and of course my holiday to Spain.
I have just finished phoning everyone I know about this, I can’t seem to keep still, I’m buzzing.
Thank you all for taking an interest in this episode in my life; it’s a turning point for me. Your wishes, prayers and candles paid off. Thank you.
After writing this I’ve gone all excited again. Must calm down.

Congrats!
YEAH! The way your journal started I was thinking it went bad but now..
*smiles*
Happy for ya!
Aww, S.. that is brilliant news! The wee green men are looking out for you :) Well, its just wonderful.. now your holidays in Spain and tonight's 'do' will be just fantastic for you. ^5 :) You so deserve it
I will be getting a definitive answer tomorrow afternoon about the meeting I had on Tuesday and whether or not it’s a practical idea to move back to London. This is a very big and important decision for me as so much is hinged on this and the knock on effect will be brilliant. I need this particular property in its location and that is what will be decided. It really is not practical for me to go if I don’t get it, simple as that.
All this has over shadowed the excitement I should feel about going to Spain for two weeks this Saturday as a guest of one of my closest friends, even the flight has been paid for me as funds are at an all time low. I’m already packed and have been for the past couple of days more out of boredom than anything else. I have packed my camera so I will be snip-snapping lots of ‘stuff’!
Wouldn’t it be great if I were to go away with great news?!!
I know my excitement is probably not coming through with this entry but the anticipation and atmosphere around me is very volatile right now. This is how I have been feeling all week. I need for good things tomorrow.
I also have an evening with the family tomorrow night for a cousins’ birthday, again I’m being looked after with that expense as it's at a local carvery we will be going to. If I get good news I will try not to let it over shadow the birthday boys' big ‘60’ even thou he won’t mind.
I would do anything for the news I need to hear … well almost!
